Over my lifetime writing career I have produced ten books of both non-fiction and fiction, a number of film scripts, short stories and corporate histories, and several hundred articles for many leading publications, including The Globe and Mail, Maclean's, Reader's Digest, Canadian Geographic, The Chicago Tribune, and The New York Times,
About twenty-five of the magazine features have won prizes for journalism. and the books have been recognized with a number of writing awards, including the Writers Trust of Canada Prize and The McNally Robinson Book of the Year award. A new play, The Cottage, is currently in production at the Manitoba Theatre Centre and my novel Juliana and the Medicine Fish has been made into a feature film.
All stories share the same elements. Movies, plays, novels, magazine articles - they're all based on interesting characters trying to do something difficult. I enjoy working in all those genres. If you are interested in learning more, here are a couple of You Tube documentaries about my work:
